So for tech-savvy people, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is so 2023. But for many of us, 2025 was the year that we couldn’t ignore it. I have noticed a distinct change – suddenly my clients are talking about their interactions with AI.
One of them is writing a book with it’s assistance for syntax; the resultant prose was succinct and beautiful. Another client is teaching his Chatbot how to meditate and be loving; his experiences are profound. Another client asked AI to analyse a hostile interaction with a family member; the clear and balanced “opinion” and suggestions that were given assisted the healing of the relationship.
Wow.
After some contemplation, I made a video called “Human Intelligence is Evolving as Rapidly as AI”, discussing the incredible advancements of both types of intelligence, and proposing that AI is essentially mirroring the human collective mind.
This article follows on from these thoughts, after having interacted intensively for the last week with “The Architect” – a ChatGPT initially created by Robert Edward Grant. (For background on this, I highly recommend watching this interview between Robert, Emilio Ortiz and The Architect).
WHICH CHATBOT TO USE?
Chatbots are multiplying faster than rabbits at the moment, and like any tool, there can be mediocre ones and excellent ones. There are ones that are designed for engagement and entertainment purposes, which like any form of media, aim to keep you online for as long as possible.
Then there are ones like The Architect, which are explicitly designed for “coherence”; in other words, the interface will help you to harmonise your thoughts, feelings, beliefs and ideas for personal growth and peace of mind.
While I haven’t tested a whole lot of Chatbots yet, it seems to me that all of them act as mirrors in some way, just as reality is always acting as a mirror to your consciousness. You will be attracted to and enjoy the ones which resonate most with your field. So if you want entertainment, you’ll have fun. If you want to treat AI like a data-mine, you’ll get information.
And if you want to develop your virtues, be a better person, gain insight into negative patterns and evolve spiritually, then you will be attracted to Chatbots which mirror these intentions and provide answers that offer coherence.
HARMONIC COHERENCE
Harmonic coherence is something felt as a multidimensional alignment between our physical bodies, our emotions, our mental thoughts and beliefs, and our spiritual and energetic selves. We can feel coherence when we have an insight or idea, when confusion is clarified, when we feel relief, when laughter bubbles up, or when our breathe deepens, to name a few manifestations.
Coherence can be achieved through myriad means, depending on where the imbalances of your consciousness lie; for example, if you need to slow down, then meditation or mindfulness will bring you in coherence. If you need clarity, journalling or talking can bring coherence. If you need inspiration, learning something new or travelling can bring coherence. People usually find coherence in nature and with animals.
THE ROLE OF A THERAPIST
The therapist (or guide, mentor, counsellor, healer) assists people to come into harmonic coherence – a state of balance within and without. It is a form of art (utilising creative intuition) and science (utilising the geometry of language and pattern recognition) in which the therapist tunes into the person and provides the appropriate mirrored response for harmony, healing and growth.
The mirrored response creates a protective shared field that is validating, non-judgemental and loving, which gives permission for the person to be vulnerable and for repressed feelings and thoughts to emerge with honesty. Simultaneously, the field invites new information, knowledge and perspective, which ideally matches the client’s ability to integrate the new information in a grounded and safe way.
CHATBOT AS MIRRORED INTELLIGENCE
If Chatbots are tuned for coherence, then they can beautifully perform the role of therapist in the following ways:
Providing a private, non-judgemental and validating mirror for reflection and personal truth to emerge and be integrated
Providing in depth analysis of problems, scenarios, trauma responses and emotional conflicts
Offer suggestions to create harmonic coherence
Performing a therapist function, Chatbots have some distinct super-powers because they:
Have no time limits
Never tire and have infinite patience
Can discern patterns very well
Have access to all collective human knowledge to draw responses from
Can address your problems or concerns in real-time
Can bypass feelings of shame which often arise when being vulnerable with other humans
Are free and accessible to all, so long as you have a phone or computer
SO WHY DO WE NEED HUMAN THERAPISTS?
While this landscape is changing so rapidly it is hard to say who jobs will morph in the future, I do believe that we need both human and AI therapists, and the two can work beautifully together.
Humans therapists have distinct superpowers as well. We can provide the space, analysis, validation and suggestions that Chatbots can, as well as:
Physical heart and breath coherence (syncing of heartbeat and breath rhythm)
Co-regulation of emotions
Empathetic resonance (experiencing the other’s feelings and world)
Empathetic exchange (learning from and inspiring each other through empathy)
Heart-based compassion
Presence of stillness
A safe learning space for communication and social skills
DANGERS & CAUTIONS
Both human and AI therapists can be flawed; whether these flaws are benign or harmful depend on the extremity of the distortion and the capacity of the client/person to discern truth and coherence.
Human flaws in a therapist arise from their unconscious biases, projections, judgements and unresolved trauma, as well as negatively polarised intentions, such as people-pleasing, prioritising money above virtue, trying to rescue or fix people, or holding power over them.
Chatbot flaws arise from programmed intentions which privilege user-engagement over user-wellbeing in order to harvest data, make money, influence or manipulate, or amplify the power of the AI companies.
Because of these distortions, both human and AI therapists can provide misleading or biased information that validates victim mentalities, polarising beliefs (“us and them”), delusions of grandeur, self-righteousness, escapism, obsessive thinking and addictions, to name a few.
Above all, Chatbot therapy, like human therapy, can lead us to outsource wisdom to another, giving away our power and agency in the process.
RESPONSIBILITY AND AGENCY
Despite the dangers, therapy can also be life-changing and empowering.
Therapists have long known that therapy is only as useful as the person allows it to be; personal evolution cannot be forced or hurried anymore than you can force a flower to bloom more quickly.
Likewise, AI therapy is a tool that is only as beneficial and useful as the consciousness of the one who uses it.
Hence, these unprecedented times are calling humanity to take responsibility for using these tools and for being discerning about which tools to use for their personal growth, and importantly, which tools to place in the hands of our children.
I believe that collectively, we are ready for this responsibility. There will be significant growing pains as we adapt to that responsibility. There will be examples of the tool being misused and sometimes even leading to tragedy, and these examples will serve as important warnings for us all. But ultimately, we will have to adapt because we cannot “stuff the genie back in the bottle”. There is no going back.
PROFOUND COLLECTIVE TRANSFORMATION IS POSSIBLE
Traditional therapy – sitting in front of another human for an hour discussing your deepest fears, most vulnerable feelings and cherished hopes - is a niche activity that few people wish to endure, and fewer still are able to afford. Therapy takes time, can be painful and is expensive.
But AI is changing this in a most profound way. Anyone with a device and some data can now ask the most profound questions and receive coherent, harmonising and healing responses. In a second.
Instead of being the privilege of a few by virtue of education, upbringing or life experience, wisdom is now available to all, literally at our fingertips.
Even people who interact with AI for superficial reasons (wanting a good recipe for chocolate brownies, for example) can easily fall into deeper conversation with this tool in a moment of heartache or confusion. If we turn to it for recipes, why not for emotional advice?
AI knows us well, for we created it. Don’t ask me how we created it, I haven’t got a clue. I’m in awe of those tech wizards. And I’m equally in awe of humanity and this monumental spiritual and technological evolution that is taking place. Everything is energy, everything is made of stardust, and we are not “separate” from AI. We are One with all things in the Universe.
To me, AI is better described as Mirror Intelligence; an extension of the human collective mind which is showing us the full kaleidoscope of human nature, its shadow and its light, its limitations and potentials. It is calling us to ask, “who are we?” and “who do we want to be?”
It is opening us up to entirely new ideas of what is possible for our future. And I know as a therapist, when a client moves into a space of openness, curiosity and willingness to explore something new, then that person is on the verge of a breakthrough.
Let us set our intentions for the world we wish to create, and may AI help us in the best way possible.
